Waiting for the Green Light

No, you shouldn’t wait to create a retirement plan.

Waiting.  Waiting.  Waiting.  I can’t help but laugh when I think of my daughter’s Dr. Suess book, Oh, the Places You’ll Go.

Do you remember the two pages on waiting?  Where everyone is waiting?  Suess mocks, of course, but admittedly, we’ve all found ourselves there at some point in life.

Waiting.  Waiting.  Waiting.

Waiting can often be a good idea.

Waiting for a green walk signal to cross the street.

Waiting in the doctor’s office when you are sick.

Waiting to marry until you’ve found the right person.

But waiting, doesn’t make any sense in a number of situations.

Waiting to exercise until you have the energy.

Waiting to fix the brakes on your car.

Waiting to create your retirement plan.

Should you wait to create a retirement income plan?

No! You should start as soon as possible. Imagining you have to plan for a time when your income will drop by 50% or more.  And YOU have to make up the difference. And with any luck, you’ll have to make up the difference over a long and active retirement!

It’s never too early to make smart moves with your money.

Should I wait until…

I’m retired? No.

I’ve started SS? Definitely not.

Wait until the world is more “stable”? No.

After the election? Nope.

The economy/market recovers?  Definitely not.

Dr. Suess frowns upon waiting.  So do I.

Realistically, the earlier you start working with a retirement planner, the more they can help with your retirement.  So no, waiting doesn’t help.

Get started today.

I know you’re nervous about taking action.  But here’s what I’ve found:  Creating and executing a great plan will give you retirement confidence you need!

(Yeah, a good plan will likely lower the taxes you pay, help you create a more reliable income stream and make your entire retirement better too!)

Ok, last question….So you do want to get started… but you want to know:  Do I need to know financial terms before you speak to a retirement specialist?

No, you don’t, but if you are nervous about talking to a retirement planning specialist you can read this report first…. https://johnbubello.com/terms-report/
